Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
In short: this website uses no cookies, no trackers and no analytics. Our web server keeps a basic log for 14 days. If you email us, we use your email only to reply to you, and we delete it when it's no longer needed. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
1. Who is responsible
BackScan is currently operated by:
Info-Matic (sole proprietorship of Christopher Knak Bonitz)
Nupark 51
7500 Holstebro
Denmark
CVR: 39756366
Email: contact@backscan.eu
We are the “controller” of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you have any question about your data, write to the address above.
2. Visiting this website
This website is plain and static. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking tools, and loads nothing from other companies: no external fonts, scripts or embedded content.
Like every web server, ours writes a short log entry for each request. The entry contains:
- your IP address
- the date and time
- the page or file requested, and whether it worked
- the page you came from (if your browser sends it)
- your browser and operating system, as reported by your browser
Why: to keep the website running and secure, for example to spot and block attacks. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). How long: logs are deleted automatically after 14 days. We don't combine them with other data or use them to profile visitors.
3. Emailing us or signing up for the test
If you write to contact@backscan.eu or signmeup@backscan.eu, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write in the message.
Why: to answer you, and, if you asked to join the test group, to contact you about the test. Legal basis: taking steps you have asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), or our legitimate interest in answering messages (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). How long: general questions are deleted once the conversation is finished. Sign-up emails are deleted when the test phase ends, or sooner if you ask us to.
Our email is handled by Google Workspace (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) as our processor, under a data processing agreement. Google may process data outside the EU. Where that happens, it is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
4. The BackScan service
BackScan is in an early test phase with a small group of invited users. Nobody's mailbox is connected unless they have chosen to take part. Before you connect your mailbox, we will tell you exactly what BackScan reads, where it is processed, how long anything is kept, and which companies are involved. This section will be expanded with those details.
We already commit to the following:
- BackScan reads your email only to check it for scams and warn you.
- We keep as little as possible, for as short a time as possible.
- We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or let people read your email, except when you ask us to look into a specific message, or when the law requires it.
- We do not use your email to train general-purpose AI models.
- You can disconnect at any time and ask us to delete everything we hold about you.
BackScan's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Hosting
This website runs on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, in a data centre in Germany. Hetzner processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and has no access to it for its own purposes.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have incorrect data corrected
- have your data deleted
- restrict how we use your data
- receive your data in a portable format (data portability)
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it
To use any of these rights, email contact@backscan.eu. It's free, and we will reply within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, either in the EU country where you live or the one responsible for us: the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), www.datatilsynet.dk.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this page as BackScan develops, in particular before the service goes live. The date at the top always shows the latest version. If a change affects how we handle data from test users, we will tell them by email first.
