Terms of use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

In short: BackScan is in an early, free test phase. It helps you spot scams, but it can't catch everything, so always check a payment request yourself before you pay. You can stop using BackScan at any time.

1. Who we are

BackScan is currently operated by Info-Matic (sole proprietorship of Christopher Knak Bonitz), Nupark 51, 7500 Holstebro, Denmark, CVR 39756366. You can reach us at contact@backscan.eu.

2. The test phase

BackScan is not yet a finished product. During the test phase:

Before you connect your mailbox, we will tell you exactly how the service works and what it does with your data. You decide whether to go ahead.

3. What BackScan can and can't do

BackScan looks for warning signs in your email and tells you when a message looks like a scam. It is a help, not a guarantee:

You remain responsible for deciding whether to pay an invoice or act on a message. If in doubt, contact the sender through a phone number or website you already know is real, not the details in the email.

4. Using BackScan fairly

Please only connect a mailbox that you own or are allowed to manage, and don't try to disrupt, overload or break into BackScan or this website.

5. Stopping

You can stop at any time by disconnecting BackScan from your Google account or by emailing us. We then delete your data as described in our privacy policy.

6. Liability

Because BackScan is a free test service, we provide it “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses caused by a scam BackScan did not detect, or by a genuine email it wrongly flagged. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it, for example for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer.

7. Law

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of that country.

8. Changes

We will update these terms as BackScan develops, and in any case before it becomes a paid service. The date at the top always shows the latest version. If a change matters for test users, we will tell them by email first.
